Isn't it interesting how John the Baptist is squished in early at the start of every gospel? It's as if the story of Jesus is incomplete without a weird witness willing to testify, make a way and invite others to live differently by declaring Jesus is here, God's rule reigns and the kingdom of heaven is now…
How might we live the same way?
Present God who chooses to move right in, show me the way to be a witness of your light, with us now, even as the darkness is around. Fuel us to be your light, a friend beside those in need, willing to feed the hungry and forgive endlessly…no matter how weird this kind of love may be. Amen
