Simple Sunday Prayer
"Loose him, and let him go." John 11:4
Why?
Why did he have to die? Why do the hurting keep crying? Why are the hungry still in pain? Why is there so much misery? Why is God always running behind?
Inside of Lazarus’ grave, the community mourns what could have been. They weep sour tears of a life lost too soon, a sickness untreated and a family now torn. Even as the tomb is opened and the stench of death sweeps across the crowd, still they cannot fathom an alternative ending to this horrible day.
Loving Lord, in all that we face, embrace and pretend like we have the final say your grace is awake, not dormant or denying our painful resistance to your ways. Loosen our grip on the way we see human frailty and free us into your possibilities of true healing. In your grace filled name we pray to be unbound and now synced to you. Amen.
